Reece is a highly accomplished individual with a diverse range of talents and achievements. Born and raised in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, Reece was the youngest student ever to attend Thompson Rivers University (TRU) at just 12-years-old. He received international recognition in the 1990s for founding an open-source computer operating system project that was based on a cutting-edge kernel design. Reece earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 2000, becoming the youngest degree graduate in his university’s history. He later completed a Bachelor of Arts at TRU in 2003.
Currently, Reece works as a software developer in areas including marketing automation, call center automation, cloud communications, and data visualization. In the past, Reece has also been involved in political advocacy and journalism, having co-founded an organization that advocated for seniors, and served as the founder of a web-zine, managing editor of a trade magazine, and publisher of a local newspaper.
He is also an avid hockey fan, and can be found on the ice several times a week (and sometimes even takes meetings from the bench). When he’s not working, playing hockey, or loudly cheering for the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers, he is usually playing chess or eating cheese and cinnamon buns.
